Another Year

I am now 29 and 2008 is almost over. It's been a year of very low lows and extremely high highs. Looking back, I would definitely say this year has had the most change for me.

It started badly. Very very badly with heartache and betrayal. However, sometimes getting stabbed in the back makes you faster on your feet. It certainly spurred me to move forward, and I did a lot of things that I had been putting off. Visiting Alex was probably the one that had the most impact as it made me realize that I had been living my life in slow motion.

I packed up my worldly possessions and moved to Montreal at the first of June and what a whirlwind it has been. I have made new friends, discovered who my real friends were back home, started a new job, and a new life. Montreal has been good to me and I love it. I got to check a few things off my list (seeing Madonna in October was definitely a highlight, as was dipping my foot in the Pacific at the beginning of this month) and look forward to all the new experiences ahead of me.

I'll try to keep up on my blog a little better in the new year (but I promise nothing :P).

Lots of love, and happy holidays!

Sorry!

I have been so busy!

Work is good but busy. I've got an opportunity to become the Xerox rep on site - I'm moving on to stage 2 of the process. It would mean a decent raise, no cold calling, and a different kind of stress.

I had to stop working on the show I'd been cast in. Let's just call it creative differences and leave it at that.

I've started seeing someone. We're taking it a day at a time - neither of us want to commit to anything serious. After the debacle of our previous relationships, we're both a little gun shy.

I'll try to update more later.

Fall Already?

I've been here 3 months already! Can you believe it? Where did the summer go?

My week was very busy. I worked late most days, but I did make some good sales. My commission cheque for September will be pretty decent, which is good news.

Friday night, I went to Deli Planet with Philip and some of the guys from work. Andrea met us there, and we went to karaoke at O'Hara's for a bit before heading to the village. We were tipsy and in the mood for dancing so we went to a bar call Unity, which was lots of fun.

Saturday afternoon I did very little. I hung out, read a bit, ran a couple of errands. Aidan called mid-afternoon to advise that his platoon got the weekend off. I met him around 7, and we went for a walk to catch up. I went back to where he was staying to have a beer or two and meet 'the guys.' I was probably the safest girl in Montreal Saturday night with a dozen of the fittest (and attractive) men in the city looking out for me. We went to a couple of clubs, Andrea joined us at the last one, and we danced the evening away until the bar closed at 3.

I didn't do a whole lot yesterday. I was all kinds of hung over. Lots of beer, and at least 3 shots = hang over. I ended up watching movies all afternoon (after going to Mont Royal for some cheap noodles). I met Andrea, Philip, his brother and roommate at Barfly about 10:30 for some blue grass music, but I was still feeling a little under the weather. I ended up leaving about 12:30. Phil was on the way home, so I walked with him to the Sherbrooke metro, which was nice. It's a much shorter walk when you've got company. :-)

I'm going to hit the park once I have some lunch. It's beautiful here today, so I've got a sun dress on, a bunch of books to read and my blanket. I love Park la Fontaine - I'm going to miss lazy days in the park once the weather starts to get colder. On the upside though, Shane arrives next Saturday morning!
